What it does:  Symbio helps service providers of all sizes to compete – and win – with software-enabled communications.

Mission:  Replacing carrier complexity with software scale and agility.

Size and presence: Headquartered in Sydney, Australia, Symbio serves a global market with a focus on South East Asia. We are the trusted name behind more than 500 providers.

Best known for: We’re a complete solution for launching, scaling, and managing communication services in the cloud.

The good bits: We’re a complete solution for launching, scaling, and managing communication services in the cloud.

The not-so-good bits: Lately has been turning into a basic Bodyshop after several lay-offs and numerous resignations, and proper team-based delivery projects are non-existent. You are sent to a customer and forgotten.

The Symbio story

Symbio began as a network but has become so much more. We’re a complete solution for launching, scaling, and managing communication services in the cloud.

  • 2020: As the pandemic takes hold, the Symbio platform (CPaaS) helps customers rapidly shift phone services and phone numbers into the cloud.
  • 2021: Symbio completes its Singapore network. Symbio becomes the new name for the MNF Group and trades on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX: SYM).

Culture & vibe

Unbiased hiring

The use of gender decoder software to ensure our language is inclusive as well as unconscious bias training for all members of the interview team are two of many ways we approach hiring for diverse teams.

D&I Workshops

Our training programs are some of the most sophisticated in the industry and include ‘Unconscious Bias and Inclusion’ and ‘Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity’ workshops.

Gender equality

Each year we set new D&I objectives and focus on a continuous improvement model. In 2022 – we focus on bringing more women and non-binary folks into upper management roles and smoothing our organizational gender ratio.

Women in Tech

We launched Women@Symbio in 2021, a development program for women, sponsored by our CEO and supported by the Executive Team. The outcomes have culminated in Symbio being nominated as a finalist in the ACOMM awards in the Diversity & Inclusion category.

D&I Committee

The D&I Committee is a group of Symbions from various cultural backgrounds, teams, mobility, sexual orientation, and gender identities who together represent and champion Symbio’s D&I goals via quarterly meetings and monthly initiatives.

Their focuses cover culture, gender, family & work flexibility, disability & accessibility, and Indigenous & LGBTQIA+.

Social Contributions

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) provides a warm and supportive home-away-from-home for families of children undergoing treatment in hospital. Since 2020, we have supported RMHC through our employees taking part in volunteer days with Houses in their regions. In 2021, we sponsored a room at the Westmead house, ensuring the costs associated with running the room are covered and helping provide accommodation for families.

In early 2021, Symbio joined the TelcoTogether Foundation, the foundation for uniting Australia’s leading telcos. Through their national fundraising initiative, they are supporting a wide range of community programs for young people designed to promote good mental health, a strong sense of identity, and connections beyond connectivity.

In 2019, we launched our payroll giving platform Good2Give. Good2Give is an easy way for both businesses and employees to support the causes they care about. Symbio covers the admin fee of all donations so 100% of the donation goes to charity. Using Good2Give we have supported over 15 charitable appeals, both domestic and internationally.
