Please describe the interview process and assessments.
I had a quick 20 min phone interview, followed by a "talent engagement centre" which lasted for a couple of hours and consisted of some group activities with other candidates as well as a more traditional interview.
Graduate, Adelaide
I had two group activities and a personal interview.
Graduate, Auckland
The first interview I had was a phone screening interview with an HR member from Babcock Australia. It was a quick phone call interview which lead to another interview not too long after, with members of the Engineering team leads for the local Devonport Base.
Graduate, Auckland
After an initial screening there will be a 1 on 1 phone call asking questions about how you would react in certain situations. If successful there will be an interview in person, This interview consists of 2 group tasks and a 1 on 1 meeting. The group tasks are looking for communication skills within a team and your creative skills. If successful, you will then receive an offer.

The interview process was good as the time between being contacted regarding the job and participating in an online interview was short. I was also kept in the loop which I appreciated. I also found the information I was provided regarding the role and what to expect was extensive and really helped me prepare for what to expect.

The interview process seemed very well planned and thought out. It was a multi stage process that involved an initial over the phone interview, then a health assessment, and finally an in person assessment which included group activities and a 1 on 1 interview.
Graduate, Adelaide
Not too difficult. As long as you worked hard to prepare its not too difficult. Includes an interview, initial screening, standard drug and alcohol testing
Graduate, Adelaide
An online interview with two employees where I got asked several questions.
Graduate, Auckland
Interview process was engaging, and I felt comfortable throughout the process. There were teamwork assessments given, as well as a one-on-one interview.
Graduate, Adelaide
Interview process was fine The issue was HR took 4 months to get back to me about the job i had applied for then excluded me from the acceptance of the job ultimately leading to a lot of miscommunication between employers and placed me in a very uncomfortable situation by not including me in discussions that I should have been the primary point of contact in.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
I was asked about my uni experience, skills and background, as well as some questions about my approach to and understanding of project management.
Graduate, Adelaide
I was asked about Engineering life cycle and how I have worked using the process during my Uni projects.

During the phone interview I was asked: - What made you choose /interested in Engineering? - What are your salary expectations? - When are you available to do an interview locally? During the interview with the Engineering team leads: - What made you choose Babcock? - Describe the Engineering design process - Is there anything you have made that you are proud of? - Describe a challenge you have faced and how did you overcome it?

How would you communicate with a technical person versus a creative person? How have you communicated with multiple stakeholders in the past?
Graduate, Sydney
What are your expectations for this role? -I was asked general questions regarding my education and some questions regarding the position I was entering, for example; which of the three project elements is the most important? (and more like this)

General questions like when have I showed initiative/ creativity? When have I seen a risk and what have I done about it? How have I dealt with a confronting situation like a difficult co-worker?

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
While the skills and academic side are important, I would say that Babcock looks for people who work well with others and would be a good culture fit, so I would keep that in mind and not focus solely on the technical aspects of the role.
Graduate, Adelaide
I would say that they prepare on project management and projects they worked on. More than anything I would say presence of mind and positive attitude could help a lot during the process.
Graduate, Auckland
Have some questions you would like to know about what your role may entail, or anything about the company that you would like to know about. It would be helpful to do some background research about the company so you can find something that interests you, and you can talk about that during the interview. You could ask the interviewers about what they enjoy the most about their role and working for the company. Ask about what the day to day responsibilities look like for your role.
Graduate, Auckland
Communication skills will be a main point of focus for the in person interview.
Graduate, Sydney
Be confident in what you are saying and also with PM role show initiative and leadership traits in the group interviews.
