What projects/initiatives does your employer run and what have you worked on personally?
I personally haven't participated in these initiatives as much as I should have. In the past AEMO has worked with various charities. AEMO has had events and initiatives to mark - Reconciliation week - Pride month, trans awareness week - Harmony week on top of that AEMO is instrumental in planning for/allowing the shift to an inverter-based renewable electricity grid and operating this grid.

Our company may be lagging behind in some of these regards. But it is primarily that we do not have strong drivers i.e. high carbon emissions. On the equality front we are proactive.

As a member funded organisation AEMO finds it difficult to commit major funding to activities outside its direct scope. As a member of AEMO's D&I committee I know that it's very difficult to get funding for CSR type initiatives because it's not our money that we're spending, it's our members'.

AEMO participated in the Women in Energy panel discussion in March 2021 which I attended. Occasionally there's internal discussions (Harmony Day, IDAHOBIT Day) which are good quality.
