Training & Personal Development at Alluvium Group

8.4
8.4 rating for Training, based on 8 reviews
Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
No development program but allowing me plenty of time to learn software as I need and ask questions as I go. Everyone learns at a different pace and for me self taught learning with assistance works the best.

We have a professional development plan that we develop and formally review each year. It is tailored to our personal interests, strengths, weaknesses and career progression. We are offered to attend both internal and external professional development activities, conferences, lunch and learns, courses and field-specific training.

We don't have a formal training program. BUT!! Our mentor trained us so well and taught us a lot. We learned so much stuff by directly working on the projects, whether working on the projects by ourselves or supporting seniors.

Alluvium offers robust annual development assessment and goal setting through a multi-step peer-review process, which I found to be a great experience. It was helpful to think through my career progression thoroughly, and be able to do so in open and detailed discussion with my manager. Even though I,'ve been with Alluvium for a relatively short period so far, I,'ve already been granted opportunities to attend development-orientated events, such a coastal conference most recently. I,'ve also gain substantial on the job training with dedicated (and patient!) in-house mentoring, particularly with GIS software.

I have found it has been more on the job training, which is beneficial as you are learning how to apply skills to real projects. The company is also very supportive of you self sourcing training programs to upskill in specific areas.
