Do you want to make a difference?

Alluvium started with three people in 2006 who wanted to make a positive impact on our environment and the communities that rely on healthy ecosystems. Since then we have delivered thousands of projects, each of which have left the world in a slightly better place.

We haven’t achieved this alone. Since our inception we have gathered a team of over 160 like-minded experts who are all driven by the same passion to care for the natural world, and guide the developed world in a way that the two can coexist.

Through this journey we have consciously pursued a path that would be flexible on delivering work through different streams through the development of separate companies, each specialising in their own field of environmental science under the Alluvium Group, and sharing the same mission statement.

We are making a difference. Are you ready to join us?

Why us?

We recruit the most talented engineers, scientists, and economists to help us shape the future of our natural and urban environment. Our goal is to lift the bar within our industry and provide inspirational leadership on environmental issues and solutions.

We have achieved this through a purposeful diversification of services through our family of companies consisting of Alluvium, providing guidance and advice n environmental water from catchment to coast, expert economic and policy advice with Natural Capital Economics, guidance to better our communities through social sciences with Mosaic Insights, and critical ecological assessments and studies with EcoFutures.

Each of our businesses has its own governance and management arrangements while operating within the Alluvium Group ecosystem, allowing us to deliver work in a range of disciplines and to cross-pollinate ideas between our different teams.

Our values as a business align with our team members. We are a certified BCorp, operate as a carbon-neutral business and are actively committed to reconciliation through our Reconciliation Action Plan and other initiatives. We are an employee-owned business and offer profit sharing and stock purchases to employees.

We offer our teams flexible working conditions, opportunities for self-development and community work, and the chance to learn alongside experts in a variety of natural science fields. We value and trust our team members, and operate in a flat organisational structure to allow the free flow of ideas from youngest graduate to the more experienced manager. Everyone has something to contribute, and we foster creativity and thinking beyond conevtnetioal solutions.

Our actions are reflected in our results. Alluvium has a high staff retention rate and has been a regular feature on Great Place to Work, most recently in 2022 and 2023.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • I am surrounded by intelligent, driven, and caring colleagues who share the same core values as me regarding the environment. I am able to work on topic areas I find meaningful and challenging, while being supported by a great team.
  • The best thing about working with Alluvium is that I am able to work alongside colleagues who share the same core values as myself regarding the environment, as well as sharing an aligned work ethos in general. While my company contains people working in a diverse range of areas, there is a common thread between everyone in terms of our life outlook. This is reflected in Alluvium having an excellent workplace culture that makes it an inclusive and supportive place to work. It’s also a workplace that facilitates the sharing of experience and expertise, while presenting multiple opportunities to learn about each other’s work – this keeps things interesting! Alluvium is also structured towards strongly encouraging professional growth over time, which is important to me in the workplace.
  • I am provided with the perfect level of challenging tasks during work hours, with the support I need to complete them and encouraged/supported in maintaining a work-life balance with flexible working arrangements.
  • Easy to approach team leads, seniors and mentors to ask for advice and suggestions

  • Just the general consulting company complaints, nothing specific to Alluvium.
  • For some, it maybe the lack of given direction. However, for me this is a perk
  • I am personally still learning to factor in the financial considerations that come with working in the consulting industry, having previously worked for publicly-funded organisations.
  • There are many more things in the ‘what I like’ basket than in the ‘what I don’t like’ basket in my company. It’s truly one of the best places I’ve worked at, so it’s difficult to say what is the worst thing. For me personally, I came to Alluvium with no experience working in the consulting field, and this has meant that one of the most challenging aspects of starting at Alluvium has been learning to have consideration for the consulting aspects of my work. This includes learning to have an awareness of the time and financial constraints that can exist at times, which were new to me having worked previously in publicly-funding companies.
  • There is no rigid or structured graduate training. Everything is learned on the job and graduates would have to be diligent on their own working progress and reach out to what they want to learn.
