LGBTQ+ at Veolia Australia & New Zealand

Veolia is committed to creating a working environment that values and utilises the contribution of our employees from diverse backgrounds and experiences, supporting increased capability and resilience and creating the most value for our clients, our people and society. Our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2021 - 2023 and associated employee plans outline our commitment and responsibility to our people to provide a safe and supportive workplace where inclusion is a priority.

Veolia has given its support to the five standards of conduct for business developed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to combat discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people. Veolia is also a member of the Diversity Council of Australia (DCA) which allows all of our workforce with access to events, a unique knowledge bank of research, best practice and expertise across all the diversity dimensions including gender.

As part of joining DCA, Richard Kirkman (our CEO) signed their #IStandForRespect CEO’s pledge, vowing that Veolia Australia and New Zealand (VANZ) will stand against gendered harassment and violence in all its forms and commit to taking steps to address sexual and sex-based harassment, to make the workplace safer for everyone.

Veolia will also be establishing the VANZ Diversity and Inclusion Council, a committed team of approximately 25 resources from across all lines of the business to help drive the Diversity and Inclusion goals. The Council’s mission includes:

  • Actively promoting diversity and inclusion across Veolia
  • Engaging with current diversity and inclusion challenges facing colleagues and supporting campaigns to address this
  • Acting as a resource hub through which colleagues can access information
  • Ensuring diverse experiences and needs are heard through collaboration with colleagues.
