Diversity at Nova Systems

7.9
7.9 rating for Diversity, based on 32 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
Nova has a dedicated team to manage the company's commitment to diversity. It is difficult to measure this due to the nature of the task but I feel the commitment Nova has will enhance the diversity of the company and promote a better work environment.

I think that Nova is doing enough in the diversity space.

I think there are a lot of older individuals who don't understand how to respect women and minorities in the company.

Seems diverse.

Without revealing too much, it's just nice to see an engineering office that's not just occupied by one representation. I know Nova goes out of its way to encourage all areas of diversity and it should be a standard, but I would also like to see commitment cast in the direction of earlier encouragement during high school.

Very diverse group of people across many nationalities and faiths. there is also a broad representation of people across every community, everyone is welcome and appreciated for their uniqueness. This allows to create a diverse culture and work environment.

Nova is very diversity and respectful to minorities/people with different belief, etc.

I don't know too much behind the scenes, but I know Nova are great at recruiting a very diverse group of employees.

Gender diversity is really high compared to other client sites that Ive worked on and heard of. Lots of conversation recently and effort in other areas of diversity, however still some more work we could be doing.

Yes, they are committed.

Nova places high importance when it comes to D&I. While I can't comment specifically on details as I'm not across them, I do know Nova has numerous groups and positions in place to continually develop and maintain our D&I both internally and externally.

They say they are committed but the chief people person also said that they "believe in quotas for diversity" which, as a non-white Australian is quite an uncomfortable thing to hear.

One of the four key values of the company is community which the company prides itself on committing to. Around the company is a wide variety of people of varying backgrounds, ethnicity, gender and more. Being Australian owned, the company recognises the traditional custodians on the lands in which business is conducted on.

I cannot speak to this area in detail, but from what I have seen there is great diversity at the company compared with others. I am not sure of the recruitment, retention, promotion, child care and maternity policies, but the company is generally fair and equitable.

Make an active effort to spread awareness of issues, and organise events.

I have seen almost nothing showcasing the commitment to diversity in my time here. Small events and maybe one talk but it is disappointing.

The profession has less women in general. Ethnic minorities are there but not a whole lot, however I cannot comment on varied range of experiences that people have had. This is because it can be an individual experience. There is a lot work on engaging the LGBTIQA+ community. Retention is similar to most industries, people move for a range of reasons etc.

The people around me are very diverse. I have heard there were retention issues last year but so far in my cohort everyone is enjoying working here.

Have not seen any differences between the way different genders/sexual identities have been treated in this company.

Have a diversity and inclusion manager, a lot higher proportion of women engineers at the company (mostly young) than the industry average. Ethnically diverse is a slight challenge as you must be eligible for a security clearance, however there are many people from all sorts of backgrounds. I only know of a few LGBTIQA+ members - there doesn't seem to be any issues that I've noticed. Generally the industry is old white males, this does lead to some inappropriate comments sometimes - however Nova is a very good company when it comes to this and that is not often.
