Pros & Cons

  • In Australia, there isn't a lot of space opportunities. There are developing but most companies take the designs that the United States create and fit them to our equipment here. Northrop Grumman is different, we're a company that wants to do more and can take it on. The wealth of knowledge establishes Northrop Grumman as a worthwhile company to come and learn from. To hone the skills I've learnt and apply them to grand scale projects is an invitation I couldn't say no to.
  • Flexibility and opportunity to do real meaningful work
  • They are great at creating a clear path on how you can advance in the company to what job you would like to end up in
  • Using the critical thinking methods outside of university. Learning about subjects and applying the methods learnt was university's way of learning. Whilst here at Northrop Grumman, I get to have more hands on experience in an actual program with bigger deadlines and an actual impact to the world. It's what drives me in the morning to do better and to gain experience in the areas that I can to further develop myself as a graduate engineer.
  • Flexible work hours and excellent pay
  • The best thing about working at Northrop Grumman Australia is developing and delivering leading technology within a team of like-minded individuals.
  • Can be very busy and disorganized
  • There isn't a strong graduate plan as to date. But this is to change, with identifying how graduates are beneficial to the company's future, they are seeking more talent to create a stronger graduate cohort. A young professionals network also exists that are currently creating documentation and guides that will assist future employees. The faults that may be experienced now, wish to be sorted out in the near future.
  • Currently the lack of software development
  • The worst thing about working in defence, is the limitation around sharing recent engineering achievements, due to security sensitivity.

Very good location, lots of free parking and space inside. I dress smart as I am on the business side but engineers have very relaxed dress code. We also do casual Fridays.
