Who are we?

If you haven't heard of us, then we guarantee you've heard of our brands. Diageo Australia is the country's leading spirits producer with an enviable portfolio of brands including Australia's iconic Bundaberg Rum; global giants such as Johnnie Walker, Gordon's Gin, Baileys, Smirnoff and Captain Morgan; and our premium Reserve brands such as Tanqueray, Ketel One and Don Julio. Cocktail culture is thriving across Australia and our industry is one that's vibrant, fast-paced and trend-leading.

Our Australian head office including the on-site bar is located in North Sydney and we also have a large manufacturing site located in Sydney's west where our manufacturing, planning and distribution teams operate. Finally, we have a team of talented and dedicated people at our Bundaberg Distillery in Queensland including our award-winning visitor experience, and a sales force located across the country in our major capitals and regional areas.

What about the role?

Our intern program is designed to support near the graduate-level university and tertiary education students in obtaining hands-on experience within manufacturing and supply chain operations. The program is designed to provide an exceptional opportunity for you to work on a variety of tasks with true ownership of some exciting projects across continuous improvement, process mapping, sustainability and world-class manufacturing.

As our Intern in the Innovation and Brand Change Teams, you will join our world-class change team who is responsible to design, develop, validate and implement new products and packaging for Innovation, Renovation, Imports & Costs Initiative projects. The team also renders technical support to both Huntingwood & Bundaberg supply sites regarding NPD related issues. Reporting to the Process & Packaging Engineer, this is a unique opportunity to lead a sustainable packaging project for Diageo Australia!

Where will you grow in this role?

  • Deliver a Sustainable packaging research project for the wrapping machinery on the can line by conducting research on new packaging materials that have been introduced to our market;
  • Assist in NPD projects including assessing the capability of the equipment to produce new products and recommending required modifications as well as working with the Bulk Store team on liquids capability and requirements;
  • Build and drive efficiencies/automation in scoping documents for NPD projects, building process map for consistency; and
  • Budget tracking and cost of goods analysis for NPD projects.

What will you bring to the table?

  • Ideally studying an Engineering degree of some variation, including mechanical, electrical or process engineering or potentially have studied some form of Packaging Technology;
  • Some exposure through university subjects to Project Management;
  • Curious nature and keenness to understand how things work;
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • A developing ability to engage with key stakeholders to understand their needs and process; and
  • Ability to research a large scope and build credible recommendations.

What is the culture like?

Are you prepared to take risks in the pursuit of greatness?  Do you hold yourself to the highest standards with real accountability for results?  Would you treat the business as if it is truly your own – because you want your legacy to be worthy of that of our founders? Then, let's talk!

We are an organisation that creates products that are part of celebrations, and our culture reflects this.  We work in a flexible way to ensure that you can fit work around your life commitments – this may be a different location and/or flexible hours.  We are a future-focused organisation, that is constantly wanting to perform better and to continue our growth.

Our commitment to inclusion and diversity:

Diageo is committed to building a workplace culture that values inclusion and diversity. We actively promote the employment of people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, LGBTI and other diversity groups.
Diageo encourages applications from people with disabilities and will provide reasonable adjustments in our recruitment processes and in the workplace. If you need an adjustment in the recruitment process, please let us know when submitting your application and we will tailor our process where practical.
