What about the role?

Our intern program is designed to support near the graduate-level university and tertiary education students in obtaining hands-on experience within manufacturing and supply chain operations. The program is designed to provide an exceptional opportunity for you to work on a variety of tasks with true ownership of some exciting projects across continuous improvement, process mapping, sustainability and world-class manufacturing.

As our Intern in the Governance team, you will be guided and mentored by some of the best in the business. Our Governance Team in Bundaberg are responsible for quality assurance and compliance including quality, safety and environmental compliance. For this project, you will lead an exciting innovation project, seeking to understand the differences in yeast strains and it's effect on the future production of our famous Bundaberg Rum.

Our Intern Position at Bundaberg is for 4 days per week over the University summer holidays.

Where will you grow in this role? 

Build a research proposal and build research scope of lab trials based around different yeast options;
Conduct lab-scale trials on yeast options to research their impact on quality and efficiency;
Build a proposal for factory-scale trials and recommend the possibility of alternative yeast strains; and
Build recommendations around full-scale yeast trials using alternative yeast strains.
What will you bring to the table?

You will currently be studying a science-based degree with experience within a lab-based setting while at university;
Have a high level of logic and ability to interpret lab results and understand their impact;
Good communication skills, both written and verbal;
A developing ability to engage with key stakeholders to understand their needs and process; and
A high level of safety awareness and lab procedures.
