About the program

The Intern program provides students with 12 weeks of paid employment, giving you the opportunity to participate in industry-leading oil and gas projects while acquiring practical skills relevant to your field of study.

We also provide education and training during the program to help cultivate your professional skills within a diverse, inclusive, supportive, and collaborative workplace.

About the role

Our engineering function is split up into 3 different streams:

  • Facilities engineering
  • Petroleum engineering
  • Wells engineering

Facilities Engineering:

Facilities engineers may assist specialist engineers with the resolution of technical issues impacting LNG plant performance and availability. This will include data collection and analysis in support of the offshore and onshore assets operated by Chevron.

You will be exposed to real world technical issues as well as the Chevron processes and systems used to analyse and determine the most realistic and commercially viable solutions.

You will gain a better understanding of the varied and extensive technical support required to keep these world-class facilities operating at their optimal level.

Petroleum Engineering:

During the Intern Program, you will gain a better understanding of the role as a Petroleum Engineer within an integrated Subsurface Team supporting world-class operations and assist in evaluating reservoir and well performance and provide support to petroleum engineering field operations personnel responsible for monitoring and optimising well performance and integrity.

Throughout your placement, you will also be exposed to the routine management of gas production well operations, in order to maintain asset integrity and optimise resource recovery. You will learn how to utilise well condition monitoring and reservoir surveillance data, and how these can impact short and long term business decisions.

Wells Engineering:

You will have the opportunity to learn how a Wells department of a global oil and gas business supports projects of various complexities to meet the diverse needs of our stakeholders. You will also gain a better understanding of what a career as a Wells Drilling or Completion Engineer involves, and the opportunities it creates.

These roles will be based in Chevron’s new building at One The Esplanade.
