The BMW Group Australia Story

BMW Group Australia consists of BMW Australia Ltd. (the sales company, operates since 1979), BMW Australian Finance Ltd (the financial services company), BMW Sydney Pty Ltd (the dealership providing vehicle sales, parts sales, and vehicle service), and BMW Melbourne Pty Ltd.

The national headquarters in Melbourne include the offices of BMW, BMW Motorrad, MINI, BMW Financial Services, a national training centre with a fully equipped workshop, and a distribution centre that supports their national dealer network.

Their global company, the BMW Group which is headquartered in Munich, Germany, and has 31 assembly and production facilities in 16 countries. With its global sales network that operates in 150 countries with 120,726 employees (in 2020), it consistently makes efficient resource management and sustainability central to its strategic direction, from the production, and supply chain, to the end of the use phase of all products.

With four brands (BMW, BMW Motorrad, MINI and Rolls-Royce), their product line-up is evolving along with the industry’s transition to electrification. They offer among the most electrified models of any manufacturer represented in Australia.

Recruitment process

For fresh graduates, BMW Group offers the AcceleratiON Programme, the international programme providing global assignments, personal development, networking, mentoring and coaching, short-term placements, and joint team projects.

It consists of four rotations, one of which will be held at BMW headquarters in Munich. The requirements for this programme are bachelor’s degree (master’s degree is preferred) in disciplines such as IT, engineering, and production, fluency in German and English, extracurricular involvement, at least 6 months of relevant work experience, and 4 months of relevant experience abroad.

BMW Australia Financial Services also offer internships to candidates who are still studying or in their GAP year. For permanent positions or fixed-term contracts, some of the job vacancies currently open are Sales Executive, Warranty Trainee, Service Advisor, MINI Pre Owned Specialist, Pre-delivery Team Leader, Expression of Interest (BMW Sydney), as well as Brand Experience Consultant, Customer Engagement Consultant, Motorrad Marketing Intern, Customer Experience Consultant, Operation Support Associate (BMW Melbourne).

Candidates may be asked to submit an online video (2-3 minutes) about themselves and their interests. The recruitment process also involves telephone interviews, job interviews with the respective department and HR department, a second interview where a small tailored task may be requested from the candidates, and professional and social media background checks. BMW Australia Financial Services will also conduct additional background checks (with national/international police and credit history checks)

To apply the circular economy for this purpose, old vehicles should be used as a source of raw materials for the new ones. BMW vehicles are already made from up to 30 per cent recycled and reused materials on average, and they will continue to increase this amount.
