Management at BHP

7.7
7.7 rating for Management, based on 49 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
Managers very accessible no matter who you are. BHP has great culture of being able to reach out to anyone in the business and receive assistance or advice, whether that be on roles or projects.

A large emphasis is made on regular communication with leaders and finding mentors. Some leads are better than others but for the most they are all amazing
Graduate, Perth
I have strong leaders that work very hard to mentor me and provide me with the best care.

I am happy with the managers I have had so far. Rebecca Austin was my first line leader in my first placement in HR Services, and Carla Macri my current line leader in HR Consulting. Both ladies have been very supportive and helpful to me. James Joseph is my discipline champion (similar to a mentor) in the graduate program, and he is very helpful to my development as a graduate at BHP.

Superintendent level and up are responsive at some stage in their busy schedule but sometimes supervisors are lacking
Graduate, Adelaide
Dependent on the team but my current experience is good. frequent 1up and 2up meetings.

Really good leaders who value development

I believe it is site dependent. My current Superintendent is very engaging with his staff, haven't really met the manager as he doesn't spend a lot of time on site. They are very on the pulse about performance and dont come across as clueless. Feel comforted in their abilities.

There are good ones and ok ones. I think managers does not need to be my mentor.

Minimal interaction with managers. Mostly senior and superintendent level

Bad management. Previously mentioned what I've experienced.
Graduate, Olympic Dam
Very little interaction with management. Almost impossible to get in contact.
Graduate, Winchester
Engagement is limited as there are so many layers to management.
Graduate, Brisbane
Very dependent on the individual manager - some are very good, some are quite poor.
